Italy highlights mountain culture, tourism, and alpine traditions
Various aspects of Italian mountain life and tourism are being showcased, ranging from traditional distillery heritage to modern alpine infrastructure. In Valle d’Aosta, the distillery La Valdôtaine, established in 1947, continues to promote local conviviality through products inspired by alpine folklore, such as the legendary Dahu.
In the realm of mountain accommodation, high-altitude refuges are evolving from simple shelters into sophisticated facilities. The Bivacco Gervasutti in Valle d’Aosta serves as a notable example, featuring a modern, energy-independent modular structure equipped with solar panels and internet connectivity.
Cultural and sustainable initiatives are also prominent. The city of Ceva is hosting a literary series titled “Ti presento un libro… in vetta,” featuring authors Andrea Parodi and Enrico Camanni to explore the Alps through literature. Meanwhile, in Val di Fassa, the tourism board is promoting a new sustainability-focused identity under the claim “Val di Fassa, vivila come noi,” following the region's achievement of GSTC sustainability certification and ongoing environmental efforts like the SAMONT project for trail maintenance.
