Mountain routes reopened in Dominican Republic and Venezuela

Authorities in the Dominican Republic and Venezuela have reopened mountain routes following recent environmental damage and restoration efforts.

In the Dominican Republic, the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources announced that the Guayabal-Constanza route through Valle Nuevo National Park is once again open to 4x4 and off-road vehicles. The El Sillar de los Indios section was restored using heavy equipment through a collaborative effort involving Industrial Geotechnical Services, SRL, Cormidom, and the Armed Forces to address previous transit difficulties.

In Venezuela, the road leading to Chorro del Indio National Park in San Cristóbal has been cleared following landslides and fallen vegetation caused by heavy rains and strong winds. Municipal crews, the Táchira State Government, firefighters, and civil protection agencies worked to remove sediment and debris. Local authorities have advised drivers to remain cautious due to ongoing weather conditions and have scheduled preventive tree pruning in nearby sectors.
