Mountain View tech showcase attracts 500 visitors, highlights AI and robotics

The 11th annual Technology Showcase was held on July 30, 2026 at Civic Center Plaza in Mountain View. More than 500 people visited the free event, which featured 37 interactive exhibits ranging from laser cutters and self‑driving Waymo vehicles to NASA Ames Research Center’s voxel construction kits for space structures.

Attendees could challenge the smAiT social robot to a game of chess, watch a humanoid robot from RB Labs answer questions, and learn about artificial‑intelligence applications for small businesses during a two‑hour evening panel. Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Peter Katz said the variety of displays demonstrates the city’s continued role as an innovation hub. High‑school sophomore Grant Xu presented his FPGA project and played chess with the robot, noting the opportunity to see peers’ inventions.
