Mountain Warehouse names Marcus Ward as CEO

Mountain Warehouse has appointed Marcus Ward as its new CEO, effective September 1. Ward, who has been with the company for nearly 20 years, previously served as Chief Operating and Financial Officer.

Founder Mark Neale is stepping down from the CEO role he has held since 1997 but will remain as Executive Chair. Neale stated he intends to focus on expanding the company's international business and its acquired brands, including the surf-inspired brand Animal and the US-based retailer Eastern Mountain Sports.

The leadership change coincides with the retailer reaching a milestone of over £500 million in annual revenue, representing a 13.4% year-on-year increase. The company also reported an operating profit of £47.6 million. Additionally, former Marks & Spencer and Ikea executive Marsha Smith will join the company as Global Retail Director.
