Mountaineers name Pakistani peak ‘RL9’ after Robert Lewandowski

Influencer Jakub Patecki, musician Marcin ‘Pawbeats’ Pawłowski, and high-altitude porter Nazir Sadpara have reached a 5,349-meter peak in the Karakorum mountains of Pakistan. The climbers have decided to rename the summit, previously identified on maps as ‘Summit 59’, to ‘RL9’ in honor of Polish footballer Robert Lewandowski.

Patecki noted that the mountain had been nicknamed ‘Lewy’ due to its position relative to their base camp. The expedition, which began in early September, aims to climb several unclimbed peaks, including a primary target of approximately 6,059 meters. The team reported facing difficult conditions, including heavy snow and fatigue, during their ascent of the 5,349-meter peak.
