Mountains of the Moon University seeks partnerships to address enrollment pressure
Mountains of the Moon University (MMU) is seeking increased partnerships with government agencies, industries, and the local community to address significant enrollment pressures and infrastructure deficits. Vice-Chancellor Professor Pius Coxwell Achanga reported that while approximately 6,000 students applied for admission this academic year, only 2,000 were admitted due to limited institutional capacity and facilities.
The university is also working to address staffing shortages, currently employing 315 staff members against an established requirement of roughly 523. During a visit by Inspector General of Government Lady Justice Aisha Naluzze Batala, university leadership emphasized the need for strengthened accountability and corruption prevention.
Separately, the MMU Alumni Convocation is preparing for elections scheduled for October 31, 2026. Journalist Kemigisa Jamillah has announced her candidacy for the Secretary for Female Affairs position, focusing on professional mentorship and expanding networks for female graduates.
