Mousetrap K-drama explores identity theft and social issues

The South Korean mystery thriller series ‘Mousetrap’ has premiered on Netflix. The 10-episode series features Ryu Jun-yeol in a dual role, portraying both the reclusive novelist Moon-jae and a mysterious figure known as ‘The Rat’. Sul Kyung-gu stars as Noja, a moneylender who eventually forms an unexpected partnership with Moon-jae to uncover the truth behind the identity theft.

The series explores several modern social issues, including digital identity theft, where the protagonist loses access to his personal data, finances, and property. Other themes addressed in the narrative include the complexities of debt and the world of moneylenders, the struggles of homelessness, and mental health challenges such as panic disorders and social isolation.
