Moussa Sangare sentenced to life for murder of Sharon Verzeni
The Court of Assize of Bergamo has sentenced Moussa Sangare, 32, to life imprisonment for the murder of 33-year-old Sharon Verzeni in Terno d’Isola. The court recognized several aggravating factors, including premeditation, futile motives, and the victim's diminished defense.
During the investigation, Sangare provided multiple contradictory versions of the event. In his initial interrogation, he stated his intention was to kill the victim because he felt ‘the mood’ to do so. However, he later attempted to retract his confession, claiming he had merely seen the victim arguing with another man and fled out of fear.
Evidence presented during the trial, including surveillance footage, showed Sangare fleeing the scene on a bicycle at approximately 32–33 kilometers per hour. Prosecutors also noted that Sangare attempted to conceal evidence by modifying his bicycle and cutting his hair to avoid recognition. The victim's DNA was found on her bicycle, where the initial attack occurred.
