Mouvement Populaire sets conditions for government participation

Mohamed Ouzzine, Secretary-General of the Mouvement Populaire (MP), has stated that the party's participation in the upcoming government depends on the inclusion of its electoral program rather than the mere acquisition of ministerial portfolios. Ouzzine emphasized that the party refuses to act as a ‘supplementary number’ and is prepared to remain in the opposition if there is no consensus on the government program's content and its ability to meet voter commitments.

Regarding recent electoral controversies, Ouzzine called for full investigations into any suspicions of electoral fraud, stressing the importance of waiting for judicial conclusions before making final judgments on the integrity of the entire process. He noted that legal appeals, such as those made by MP candidate Mohamed Joumani, are a natural part of the rule of law.

Addressing the party's performance, Ouzzine acknowledged the loss of some historical strongholds, such as the Boulemane district, attributing this to demographic shifts and the dominance of the previous majority coalition. However, he highlighted that the party maintained its parliamentary strength with 29 seats and expressed a commitment to reviewing organizational readiness and improving outreach to youth and silent voters.
