Movida capital raise and Motiva earnings boost Brazilian market

Movida Participações approved a capital increase of up to R$ 152.5 million, issuing as many as 22.9 million new ordinary shares at R$ 6.65 each—a 25% discount to the recent VWAP. The company also confirmed a R$ 255 million payment of interest on equity (JCP) scheduled for 11 September, of which R$ 75.6 million will be paid in cash and the remainder can be used by shareholders to subscribe for new shares. Controlling shareholder Simpar plans to subscribe up to R$ 106 million, supporting the offering.

Motiva (MOTV3) saw its shares climb 5.16% after releasing second‑quarter results that beat market expectations. Adjusted EBITDA reached R$ 2.4 billion, a 30% year‑on‑year increase, while net revenue slightly exceeded forecasts. The company announced a roughly 20% reduction in capex for the Fernão Dias concession, projected to improve project profitability. JPMorgan maintained a buy rating with a R$ 19 target price, and Goldman Sachs kept a neutral stance with a R$ 15 target.

Both announcements lifted sentiment in Brazil’s equity market, highlighting stronger capital structures and improved earnings performance among domestic firms.
