Movida slows fleet expansion to focus on operational efficiency
Movida is slowing its fleet expansion rate to focus on operational efficiency and increased vehicle utilization. This strategic shift comes in response to high interest rates and rising capital costs.
CEO Gustavo Moscatelli stated that the company does not intend to expand its fleet solely for the sake of scale, but rather to extract more value from its current structure. As of June, the consolidated fleet reached 286,000 vehicles, a 9% year-over-year increase. The operational occupancy rate reached 76.2% in the second quarter, up 2.1 percentage points over the previous 12 months.
To improve margins, Movida is expanding its internal service capabilities. The company is growing its 'Movida Pit Stop' network, aiming to reach 50 proprietary workshops by the end of 2027 to handle approximately 60% of preventive maintenance internally. Additionally, the company plans to expand its dedicated centers for preparing vehicles for the pre-owned market to ten units by mid-2027.
