Movimento 5 Stelle proposes usury victim fund in Puglia
The Movimento 5 Stelle (M5S) parliamentary group has introduced a legislative proposal in the Puglia Region to establish a regional fund aimed at supporting victims of usury and individuals facing severe over-indebtedness.
Presented by Councilor Rosa Barone, the proposal seeks to provide economic assistance to those who have reported usury or are undergoing debt restructuring processes. The fund is intended to help individuals access legal and administrative tools provided by the national Code of Business Crisis and Insolvency, which can be prohibitively expensive for those in financial distress.
Additionally, the fund would cover legal expenses for usury victims acting as civil parties in criminal proceedings, thereby encouraging cooperation with the justice system. The initiative was developed following discussions with the 'Buon Samaritano' anti-usury foundation.
