Movimiento Ciudadano opens doors to federal deputy Karina Pérez Popoca
Fedrha Suriano Corrales, the leader of Movimiento Ciudadano (MC) in Puebla, has expressed openness to welcoming federal deputy Karina Pérez Popoca into the party. While Suriano Corrales clarified that no formal negotiations or concrete conversations have taken place yet, she described Pérez Popoca as an “extraordinary, intelligent, and congruent” leader.
The potential shift follows internal friction between Pérez Popoca and the state leadership of the Morena party. The deputy has reportedly questioned the transparency of Morena’s internal candidate selection processes and has signaled a possible resignation from the party. In response to these tensions, Morena coordinator Pablo Salazar Vicentello suggested the dissatisfaction stems from Pérez Popoca’s lack of positioning in polls regarding the candidacy for the mayoralty of San Andrés Cholula.
