Movimiento Ciudadano faces internal candidacy contest in Nuevo León and corruption allegations in Mexico City

A recent CE Research poll shows Movimiento Ciudadano (MC) leading the race for the governorship of Nuevo León, with Luis Donaldo Colosio favored over Mariana Rodríguez. Depending on the candidate, MC could capture between 30.7% and 38.8% of voter intention, outpacing Morena, PAN and PRI in projected scenarios.

Separately, MC members have filed a formal complaint alleging that 3.36 billion pesos earmarked for flood‑control works in Mexico City were misused or not spent. The complaint, presented to the city’s Comptroller, claims that many of the 318 drainage projects either were not completed or failed to function, leaving the capital vulnerable to flooding during the World Cup period.

Both developments highlight MC’s prominent role in current Mexican politics, from electoral prospects in the north‑eastern state to scrutiny over public‑fund management in the capital.
