Movimiento Ciudadano files complaints against Morena for alleged pre‑campaign activities in Sinaloa and Tabasco
Movimiento Ciudadano presented formal complaints to electoral authorities in Mexico alleging that members of the ruling Morena party carried out prohibited pre‑campaign actions ahead of the 2027 elections. In Sinaloa, state coordinator Sergio “Pío” Esquer filed a complaint with the Instituto Electoral del Estado de Sinaloa (IEES) documenting rallies, assemblies, door‑to‑door visits, interviews and public events, and questioning the source of funding for those activities. He said, “La denuncia es importante. Pero lo que es verdaderamente indignante es que, mientras Sinaloa padece una de sus peores crisis, Morena decidió estar en precampaña.”
In Tabasco, the party lodged a separate complaint with the Instituto Nacional Electoral (INE) against Andrés Manuel López Beltrán, known as “Andy”, accusing him of pro‑selitist exercises in several plazas after resigning from Morena’s organization to seek a congressional seat in 2027. Both complaints request investigations, possible sanctions and a review of the legality of the resources used for the alleged activities.
