Movimiento Ciudadano in Puebla demands due process for detained mayors

The Movimiento Ciudadano (MC) leadership in Puebla is calling for due process following the arrests of four mayors affiliated with the party. State leader Fedrha Suriano Corrales emphasized that the detained officials must be treated under the principle of innocence, noting that none have received a judicial ruling against them.

Among those detained is Said N., the municipal president of Tepeyahualco, who was arrested during ‘Operativo Enjambre’. Initial investigations by the State Attorney General's Office (FGE) reportedly point to allegations of bribery and abuse of authority rather than links to organized crime. Additionally, brothers Giovanni and Ramiro Uruviel, who served as mayors in Chalchicomula de Sesma, Tlachichuca, and San Nicolás Buenos Aires, remain in preventive detention.

Separately, former Governor of Puebla Tony Gali Fayad has assumed the role of federal delegate for Movimiento Ciudadano. Gali Fayad stated his current priority is the party's growth in the region rather than seeking specific candidacies. He also addressed past political tensions, claiming he faced political and legal persecution during the administration of Luis Miguel Barbosa Huerta.
