Movistar imposes router restrictions on 5G home internet plans
Movistar’s ‘Hogar Conectado 5G’ service, positioned as an alternative to fiber optic connectivity, includes specific hardware restrictions. According to the service terms, customers are prohibited from using the provided SIM card in third-party routers.
Contractual clauses explicitly forbid the extraction of the SIM card for use outside of the equipment provided by the operator. Technical representatives from the company have confirmed that the service is tied specifically to the provided hardware, stating that substituting the device with a different router will result in the service failing to function.
