Movistar Plus announces crime series ‘El Castillo’

Movistar Plus has released the official trailer for ‘El Castillo’, a new six-episode crime series exploring the rise of pimping mafias in Spain. The production is based on the non-fiction book ‘El Proxeneta’ by Mabel Lozano and was created in collaboration with Caballo Films and Mafalda Entertainment.

The series stars Raúl Arévalo, Valentina Vidal, Omar Ayuso, and Laia Marull. The plot follows Gerardo Liesa, a young police inspector from the UCRIF, and his partner Carmen Osés, as they investigate changing dynamics within Spanish brothels. The investigation leads them to uncover networks run by foreign syndicates that exploit women arriving from around the world.

‘El Castillo’ is scheduled to premiere on the streaming platform on October 8. Prior to its official release, the series will be featured in the Official Section of the San Sebastián International Film Festival on September 25.
