Movistar Plus drops Eurosport 4K channel as film chief Guillermo Farré exits

On 1 June 2026, Spanish pay‑TV operator Movistar Plus removed the temporary Eurosport 4K channel, which had been launched for the Roland‑Garros 2026 tennis tournament. The channel was taken off the lineup after the Grand Slam ended, and the operator announced that a new Wimbledon‑focused 4K channel will be added for the tournament starting 29 June 2026.

Two weeks later, on 11 June 2026, Guillermo Farré, the head of original cinema at Movistar Plus, announced his departure. Farré had joined the platform in January 2023 and oversaw recent Spanish‑language film productions, including award‑winning titles such as *El ser querido* and *La bola negra*. His exit completes a series of senior staff changes that began in 2025, with the replacements of the platform’s former head of fiction, chief executive, and other senior managers. The vacancy leaves the future direction of Movistar Plus’s original film slate uncertain as the new content team settles in.
