Movistar Plus+ launches 'Se tiene que morir mucha gente' series
The series *Se tiene que morir mucha gente* is a new original comedy‑drama on Movistar Plus+ created by comedian‑writer Victoria Martín, based on her own book. Directed by Sandra Romero with Martín and Nacho Pardo co‑directing, the show follows three women—Bárbara (Anna Castillo), Maca (Laura Weissmahr) and Elena (Macarena García)—who reunite twenty years after school.
The programme mixes humor with themes of friendship, depression, mental health, feminism and generational anxieties. Bárbara, a television writer, battles benzodiazepine dependence; Maca is an aspiring actress who works as a waitress; Elena is pregnant with a much‑older hotel‑owner husband. Critics describe it as “una ficción divertidísima sobre personas odiosas a los que no quieres parecerte, pero con las que, por desgracia, te identificas,” noting its satirical take on media culture and its portrayal of flawed yet relatable characters.
