Movistar Plus launches temporary Wimbledon HDR channel, ends 4K broadcast

Movistar Plus added a temporary sports channel dedicated to the Wimbledon tennis tournament. The channel streams in HD with HDR technology rather than the previously used 4K UHD format. It is listed on dial 444 and will begin live coverage of the main draws on Monday, 29 June 2026, with broadcasts from 14:30 to 21:30.

The service is part of the Total Sports package, priced at €29 per month for new subscribers. Viewers must have a Movistar Plus UHD decoder to access the channel. The addition follows an annual pattern of launching short‑term sports channels for major events, but this year the operator chose HDR over UHD for the Wimbledon feed.
