Movistar Plus to release documentary series ‘El gordo de Villamanín’

Morada Films and Colosé Producciones are producing ‘El gordo de Villamanín’, a new original documentary series for Movistar Plus. The series explores the aftermath of the 2025 Christmas Lottery in the Spanish town of Villamanín.

Following the lottery win, the community discovered that 50 extra tickets, valued at 4 million euros, had been erroneously sold. The documentary recreates the tension within the town and features testimonies from members of the local Festival Commission and other witnesses. Beyond the financial dispute, the project examines community life, human behavior, and the impact of money in a small, isolated village.
