Mower County, Minnesota Flood Damage Exceeds $1.4 Million

Mower County, Minnesota received an initial damage assessment of just over $1.4 million after two heavy‑rain events in early July 2026. Eighteen applicants—including cities, townships, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and the Minnesota Department of Transportation—requested assistance for flood damage.

County emergency manager Amy Bramwell said the assessment was presented by the State of Minnesota, the Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management. The two storms dropped more than 10 inches of rain overall, with nearly six inches falling on July 8, causing flash flooding across the City of Austin and the wider county.
