Mozambican citizens report property expropriation in South Africa

Activist Celso Clemente Carlos, based in Johannesburg, reported a recent incident where individuals attempted to forcibly remove a Mozambican family from their home.

Reports indicate that many Mozambicans, who have migrated to South Africa for economic opportunities, face a climate of intimidation and physical aggression. Civil society organizations have called on South African authorities to implement more effective measures to combat xenophobic violence. Recent data shows that 11 Mozambican citizens have died due to xenophobic attacks in South Africa over the last five months.

In response to these tensions, Mozambican residents organized a peaceful protest to demand protection and respect for their rights.
