Mozambican judges file criminal complaints over salary irregularities

The Mozambican Association of Judges (AMJ) has filed two criminal complaints against officials within the Ministries of Finance and Public Service regarding serious irregularities in salary and subsidy processing.

The complaints, submitted to the Maputo City Attorney's Office, allege that salaries are not being paid in accordance with the Single Salary Table (TSU) and that there are significant delays in subsidy payments. The AMJ claims these issues affect judicial professionals nationwide, including appellate judges and magistrates with approved career progressions.

The association is seeking investigations into potential crimes, including fraud, corruption, and abuse of office. Furthermore, the AMJ has requested the intervention of the Attorney General's Office (PGR) to ensure government institutions restore withheld wages and comply with legal requirements to maintain the stability and integrity of the judicial system.
