Mozambique advances biodiversity conservation and ranger support

Mozambique has implemented several initiatives to strengthen biodiversity conservation and support environmental personnel. In Banhine National Park, new dormitory infrastructure was inaugurated to house up to 50 park rangers. Funded through a partnership between the National Administration of Conservation Areas (ANAC) and the Peace Parks Foundation, these facilities aim to improve working conditions, boost operational readiness, and enhance the fight against biodiversity crimes.

Additionally, the Biodiversity Conservation Fund (BIOFUND), in collaboration with ANAC, concluded its Biodiversity Conservation Program in Maputo. The program, which received funding from the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA), focused on three strategic areas: ecosystem service conservation, the development of innovative conservation financing mechanisms, and the strengthening of public policies. The program reported significant progress in natural resource management and increased community resilience to climate change through sustainable practices.
