Mozambique and Angola leaders focus on economic diversification

In Mozambique, President Daniel Chapo has advocated for increased financial support for small businesses in Sofala province to stimulate job creation and boost family incomes. During a working visit to the region, Chapo highlighted the potential of local agricultural production and announced the government's decision to double the resources allocated to the Local Economic Development Fund this year. He also urged beneficiaries to repay loans to ensure the program's sustainability.

In Angola, President João Lourenço reported that the tourism sector generated $667 million in revenue in 2025 and created over 9,000 jobs. As part of a strategy to diversify the national economy, the government has implemented measures such as visa exemptions for citizens of 99 countries and the introduction of electronic visas. The sector currently benefits from over 1,500 hotel establishments, with domestic tourism accounting for approximately 70% of occupancy rates.
