Mozambique Discusses Fiscal Consolidation and New IMF Programme in Paris
Finance Minister Carla Louveira met with IMF Africa director Zeine Zeidane on the sidelines of the Paris Forum to review Mozambique’s fiscal consolidation, public‑debt sustainability and macro‑economic outlook. The discussion highlighted progress in strengthening fiscal discipline and governance, and the IMF’s view that Mozambique is on a path toward a new financing programme, while noting persistent economic challenges.
The IMF praised recent reforms and encouraged continuation of structural measures to support the population, as the country seeks to solidify debt sustainability and secure additional external support.
