Mozambique formally establishes PRO-MULHER Fund for women
The PRO-MULHER Fund for Women's Economic Empowerment has been formally established in Mozambique through Resolution No. 71/2026, published in the Republic Bulletin on September 9, 2026. While the legal creation of the fund is official, the administrative and financial operationalization required to make funds accessible in various districts is still pending.
President Daniel Chapo has stated that the mechanism is intended to reach the entire country, with a specific focus on women managing small businesses. Although the legal framework is in place, as of mid-September, a national public notice detailing application dates, required documentation, specific amounts, and reimbursement conditions has not yet been released. The government is also working alongside other instruments, such as the Mozambique Development Bank, to support female entrepreneurs.
