Mozambique launches Inhambane golf zone and MICE tourism strategy to attract $900 million
The Government of Mozambique approved a decree creating the Inhambane Special Zone for Golf Tourism (ZETG Inhambane). The zone covers the districts of Vilankulo, Inhassoro, Massinga, Jangamo, Zavala and Govuro and was announced at the Presidential Golf Day and First Lady Golf Classic. It is intended to develop golf tourism, generate employment, strengthen local value chains and draw foreign investors.
In the same cabinet meeting, the Council of Ministers adopted the Business Tourism Strategy (MICE) for 2026‑2030. The plan targets more than US$900 million in revenue by 2030, with an expected US$106 million from 38 international conferences, congresses and incentive meetings. It aims to boost foreign direct investment, create qualified jobs and promote technology transfer across hotels, transport, catering and related services.
