Mozambique launches PROMULHER fund to empower women entrepreneurs

Mozambican President Daniel Chapo has emphasized that access to financing is essential for the economic empowerment of women in the country. During a visit to Maputo province, Chapo highlighted the government's creation of the Women's Economic Empowerment Fund, known as PROMULHER.

The fund is designed to operate across all districts and municipalities, specifically targeting Mozambican women. It aims to support those already engaged in commercial and productive activities, providing the necessary resources to scale small businesses and improve family incomes.

In addition to the financial initiative, the government is addressing social and environmental challenges. This includes efforts to eradicate domestic violence and implementing measures to mitigate the impact of potential drought caused by El Niño. Proposed agricultural protections include repairing water wells, distributing drought-resistant crops, and promoting the 'Hortas no Quintal' program to encourage household food production.
