Mozambique outlines 2027 budget plans for education and health

The Mozambican government has drafted an Economic and Social Plan and State Budget (PESOE) for 2027 that includes significant investments in human resources and social welfare. The proposal includes plans to hire 2,920 teachers and 43 early-childhood educators, alongside 598 health professionals to strengthen medical facilities.

In the education sector, the plan aims to provide 23,260 school desks and support for 1,218 children with special educational needs. For health, the government has set targets for 95% vaccination coverage for children under one year old and an 87% availability rate for essential medicines.

To address employment and poverty, the draft proposes pre-employment internships for 13,122 young people and the expansion of social assistance to reach 886,719 households living below the poverty line. Additionally, the plan includes vocational guidance for over 20,000 job seekers and entrepreneurship training for 8,550 women to promote economic autonomy.
