Mozambique: Renamo reorganizes youth wing as citizens demand policy reforms

In Mozambique, the Renamo party is undergoing internal organizational shifts and grassroots revitalization. Ivan Mazanga, President of the Renamo National Youth League, has appointed new leaders, including Francisco Machanguana as Head of the National Mobilization Department and Gizélia Manuel Chihuho as Head of the National Organization and Statistics Department. Additionally, political delegate Domingos Gundana visited the Kampfumo Municipal District to strengthen party bases ahead of the 2027 local and 2028 general elections.

Separately, youth representatives in the Vilanculos district have called on the Parliamentary Youth Cabinet to advocate for national policy revisions. During a working meeting in Inhambane Province, local youth highlighted critical challenges regarding employment, housing, and economic emancipation. Participants noted that many graduates lack job opportunities and that high costs for legalizing youth associations limit access to financing. The discussions aimed to monitor the implementation of national youth policies and address the needs of a demographic that constitutes approximately 80 percent of the Mozambican population.
