Feira de Santana hosts FLIFS literary festival and Brazil begins textbook selection
The 19th Feira de Santana Literary and Cultural Festival (FLIFS) has opened at the city's Convention Center in Bahia, Brazil. Organized by the State University of Feira de Santana and Sesc, the event features over 50 authors and cordelistas, including notable figures such as Xico Sá and Thalita Rebouças. The festival includes book launches, debates, and musical performances, and is supported by a free public transportation initiative connecting the Central Terminal to the venue.
In a separate educational development, the Brazilian Ministry of Education (MEC) has opened the selection period for textbooks to be used by public schools from the 1st to the 5th grade for the 2027-2030 cycle. Educators and school managers have until September 8 to select materials through the National Program for Books and Didactic Materials (PNLD) digital guide, ensuring the chosen works align with their specific pedagogical projects.
