Mozambique reports women occupy 23.3% of formal jobs in 2025

In Mozambique, Minister of Labor, Gender, and Social Action Ivete Alane reported that women occupied only 23.3% of formal jobs in 2025. Out of 178,200 positions held by Mozambican citizens, only 41,115 were filled by women.

While Alane noted that women accounted for 44.8% of technical-professional training beneficiaries and 49.4% of paid pre-professional internships, significant disparities remain in access to specialized training and scholarships, where women received only 21.4% of awards.

Alane advocated for measures to strengthen female economic inclusion and argued that "local content" in large projects should be measured by the effective participation of women, including their presence in decision-making roles and leadership in supply chains.
