Maputo International Fair 2026 opens to drive Mozambique's industrial growth

The 61st edition of the Maputo International Fair (FACIM 2026) has opened in Ricatla, Mozambique, featuring approximately 3,150 exhibitors from 29 countries. The event aims to promote national production, digital and energy transformation, and sustainable economic growth.

President Daniel Chapo emphasized the need to increase production and exports to alleviate foreign currency shortages. He advocated for industrializing key sectors such as natural gas, graphite, cotton, and agriculture to add value locally rather than exporting raw materials.

Strengthening economic ties between Mozambique and Portugal is a central theme. Over 100 Portuguese companies are participating in the fair. Additionally, Portuguese Secretary of State for the Economy, João Rui Ferreira, is in Maputo to discuss a €500 million financing line intended to support Portuguese investment in Mozambique.
