Mozambique strengthens oversight to avoid return to FATF grey list

The Mozambican Council of Ministers has reviewed the National Statistical Report on the Prevention and Combat of Money Laundering, Terrorism Financing, and Proliferation Financing of Weapons of Mass Destruction for the period of October 2025 to June 2026.

Government spokesperson Inocêncio Impissa stated that monitoring these measures is intended to ensure the country maintains the progress achieved following its removal from the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) grey list in October 2025. The report tracks indicators including processes submitted to the Attorney General's Office, adjudicated cases, and ongoing proceedings.

The document will be made available on the Ministry of Finance website for public consultation. Following its removal from the international grey list in Paris, officials from the Mozambique Financial Intelligence Unit (GIFiM) have recommended continued efforts to improve risk mapping to prevent future deficiencies in combating financial crimes.
