Inhambane hosts XVI National School Sports Games Festival

The XVI Edition of the National School Sports Games Festival has commenced in Inhambane, Mozambique, bringing together 1,584 student-athletes aged 12 to 16 from across the country. The opening ceremony is expected to be led by President Daniel Chapo.

Delegations from various provinces, including Zambézia, Nampula, Niassa, Cabo Delgado, and Tete, have arrived in the region. The competition features eight modalities: athletics, handball, basketball, volleyball, football, chess, gymnastics, and traditional games. This year's event also includes inclusive athletics competitions for people with disabilities.

Local authorities, including Inhambane Governor Francisco Pagula, have emphasized the importance of fair play and exemplary behavior. Logistics for accommodation, catering, and transportation have been organized across the cities of Inhambane and Maxixe to support the participants.
