Mozambique to resume public servant career progressions in October

The Ministry of State Administration and Public Function in Mozambique has announced that career progressions for public servants, which have been frozen since 2022, will resume in October. In the initial phase, approximately 280,000 employees who have already received approval from the Administrative Court will be covered.

During a meeting in Marracuene, Minister Inocêncio Impissa emphasized the need to reduce bureaucracy and accelerate the digitalization of public services to better meet the needs of a dynamic society. He described digital transformation as a strategic necessity rather than an option.

Manuel Tule, the Governor of Maputo Province, highlighted the consequences of administrative delays, noting instances where widows and guardians have struggled to access essential pensions for childcare and schooling due to frozen career progressions.
