Mozart’s authentic ‘Costa’ violin to be exhibited in Zagora

The historic ‘Costa’ violin, once owned by Wolfgang Amadé Mozart, is scheduled to be exhibited in Zagora, Pelion, on October 1, 2026. The presentation is organized by Mozarteum Hellas in collaboration with the International Mozarteum Foundation of Salzburg.

Constructed in 1764 in Treviso by luthier Pietro Antonio Dalla Costa, the instrument was acquired by Mozart around 1782. Currently held by the Mozart Museums in Salzburg, the violin is rarely used, appearing only for select concerts and recordings. Prior to its arrival in Zagora, the instrument was presented to the Pope at the Vatican in September 2026.

The public exhibition will take place at the ‘Tzanos’ Traditional Cafe in the central square of Agios Georgios, Zagora, with free admission. The event aims to promote Mozart’s musical and cultural heritage and strengthen cultural ties between Greece and Austria.
