Mozilla introduces native ad blocker for Firefox on iOS

Mozilla is rolling out an experimental native ad blocker for the Firefox browser on iOS. This feature allows users on iPhone and iPad to block advertisements directly within the browser without needing third-party extensions.

The tool operates at the network level using a filtering system based on EasyList. It is designed to target third-party advertising networks, ad trackers, pop-ups, and intrusive video overlays that obscure web content. By filtering these elements before they load, the browser aims to provide a more readable and seamless browsing experience.

However, the feature is not intended to block all forms of advertising. Sponsored links within search engine results from providers like Google, Bing, and DuckDuckGo will remain visible. Additionally, sponsored content within the Firefox Home and New Tab pages will not be filtered. Mozilla is currently deploying the update in stages to refine compatibility and effectiveness across different website technologies.
