Mozilla releases Firefox 159 with AI-driven Smart Window features

Mozilla has released Firefox 159, introducing significant updates to its AI-powered Smart Window assistant. The update includes a smart form-filling capability that allows users to automatically populate web forms using information from other open tabs, such as professional history from a LinkedIn profile. This feature currently supports text fields, with plans to expand to dropdown menus and PDFs.

Additionally, the Smart Window now features a web monitoring tool. By using the “/watch” command in the AI chat, users can instruct the browser to track specific webpages for changes, such as price drops or new job listings. The browser provides desktop notifications or toolbar alerts when matches are found. This monitoring service is currently in beta and is being rolled out in English for users in the United States and Canada.

Other notable improvements in version 159 include a default sidebar for accessing saved passwords, enhanced sharing options for macOS via the native picker, and a new keyboard shortcut (Ctrl+Shift+A on Windows/Linux) to search through open tabs. The release also addresses several technical issues, including memory usage optimizations for Linux users with AMD graphics and fixes for 167 security vulnerabilities.
