Mozilla launches Project Nova redesign for Firefox
Mozilla has launched a significant visual overhaul for its Firefox browser, known as Project Nova. The update, featured in Firefox 157, introduces a modern interface with refreshed colors, icons, and themes. Design refinements include rounded elements for the address bar and browser tabs to align with current aesthetic trends.
Ajit Varma, the head of Firefox and a former Google product director, is leading this effort to improve the browser's competitiveness. Despite holding a 3.5% global market share at the end of 2025, Varma is focusing on a philosophy of building superior features and a better user experience to challenge dominant competitors like Chrome. The redesign is being deployed across both desktop and mobile platforms.
