Mozilla releases Firefox 154 and Thunderbird 154.0 updates

Mozilla has released version 154 for both its Firefox web browser and Thunderbird email client, introducing several security updates and functional enhancements.

Firefox 154 features new AI-driven capabilities, including a ‘Manage AI’ quick action in the address bar and LLM-backed tab grouping within its ‘Smart Window’ mode. The update also brings improved full-page translations, enhanced cookie management to prevent unnecessary data deletion, and the addition of profile backup support for macOS users. Security improvements include expanded permissions for websites attempting to access local networks via WebSocket connections and the patching of 58 security vulnerabilities.

Thunderbird 154.0 provides deeper integration for macOS users through native file previews and expands Microsoft 365 support via Microsoft Graph. For Windows users, a new optional system tray mode has been implemented. The email client also addresses technical instabilities, such as duplicate IMAP notifications, and improves file management with drag-and-drop support for RFC822 attachments.
