Mozilla releases major Firefox redesign and Thunderbird updates

Mozilla has released significant updates for its Firefox browser and Thunderbird email client.

Firefox version 157 introduces a major visual redesign, including overhauled toolbars, tabs, sidebars, and menus aimed at creating a more modern and consistent experience across desktop and mobile devices. The update also features new light and dark themes, a returning compact mode for smaller displays, and improved AV1 video processing to reduce CPU load. Crucially, the update addresses 38 high-risk security vulnerabilities, including sandbox escapes.

Thunderbird has received updates across three versions: 157.0, 153.4.0 ESR, and 140.17.0 ESR. The 140.17.0 ESR release marks the final version in its specific series. These updates include various security fixes and functional changes, such as the removal of RNP command-line programs from the package and the ability to display remote content in OpenPGP messages encrypted with integrity protection.
