MP Marcin Józefaciuk criticizes parental roles in education
During a podcast appearance on ‘Jankowski Kontra’, MP and teacher Marcin Józefaciuk raised concerns regarding the involvement of parents in the educational process. Józefaciuk argued that many parents lack a clear understanding of their expectations for education, suggesting they often treat schools as providers of a ‘product’ while expecting teachers to take full responsibility for upbringing, despite the school's primary role being instruction rather than moral upbringing.
Józefaciuk noted that while parents have formal influence through parent councils, many fail to participate in these responsibilities until they have grievances to voice. He also highlighted challenges regarding school discipline, stating that teachers often fear disciplinary consequences from parents or administration when addressing problematic student behavior. He noted that psychological rulings can sometimes act as ‘shields’ that limit a teacher's ability to react to misconduct.
