Marouane Chbaatou leaves RNI to join PAM

Marouane Chbaatou, a Member of Parliament representing the Midelt province, has announced his departure from the Rassemblement National des Indépendants (RNI) to join the Parti Authenticité et Modernité (PAM).

Chbaatou stated that his decision was a considered move rather than a reaction to personal disputes or anger. He cited a growing sense that the Midelt region was not receiving sufficient attention or support from the RNI central leadership. He specifically noted a recent party meeting in Midelt where, despite the presence of RNI President Mohamed Chaouki, the absence of government ministers was perceived as a lack of regional priority.

A primary factor in his departure was a dispute regarding the traditional crafts sector. Chbaatou reported difficulties in coordinating with the Secretary of State for Handicrafts to address the grievances of local professionals, which he described as the “final straw” in his decision to seek a new political path ahead of upcoming legislative elections.
