MPF seeks judicial enforcement to regularize 12 quilombola territories in Minas Gerais
The Federal Public Ministry (MPF) has petitioned the Federal Court to enforce judicial decisions aimed at accelerating the land regularization of 12 quilombola territories in Minas Gerais. The legal action seeks to compel the National Institute for Colonization and Agrarian Reform (Incra) and the Union to finalize the demarcation and titling processes for these traditional communities.
Key communities involved include Genipapo Pintos, Água Limpa, Córrego Carneiro, Vila Santa Efigênia, Engenho Queimado, Embaúbas, Castro, Biquinha, Almas, Candendês, and Santo Antônio do Morro Grande. The MPF argues that administrative delays have stalled progress for decades. In the case of Santo Antônio do Morro Grande in Ressaquinha, families have been waiting for over 19 years, with the process facing an unjustified halt for more than 16 years.
The primary obstacle to granting definitive land ownership is the completion of the Technical Report of Identification and Delimitation (RTID), which establishes geographic boundaries and identifies eligible families.
