MPPLT calls for regional autonomy dialogue in Angola

The Movimento do Protectorado Português da Lunda Tchokwe (MPPLT) has issued an open letter to Angolan President João Lourenço, calling for formal dialogue regarding the group's proposal for regional autonomy. The organization seeks political and administrative autonomy for the Lunda Tchokwe region, asserting that such a move would address local specificities without compromising Angola's territorial integrity.

In addition to the call for dialogue, the MPPLT is demanding the release of more than 200 activists currently detained in the Lunda region. The movement noted that while they have submitted various manifestos and proposals to state institutions and political parties since 2006, they have not received sufficient responses. The group also cited concerns expressed by the European Free Alliance regarding minority rights and social justice in the region.
