Chad MPS launches national campaign to support school infrastructure
The Mouvement patriotique du Salut (MPS) and its commercial wing, the UNC-MPS, have launched a national campaign to support the Chadian education system. This initiative follows a call to action by President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno to address deteriorating school infrastructure and a lack of pedagogical equipment.
Mahamat Saleh Abdeldjalil, president of the UNC-MPS, is mobilizing economic operators and merchants to contribute to the rehabilitation of public schools and the acquisition of necessary equipment across various provinces. The campaign aims to involve the private sector in a collective effort to improve learning environments.
Simultaneously, the MPS has called on its militants to establish provincial support teams. These teams will focus on three priorities: improving access roads to schools, sanitizing school grounds to ensure hygiene and safety, and providing essential furniture and teaching materials to under-equipped institutions. Local party branches, such as the MPS council of the 2nd arrondissement of N’Djamena, have already begun distributing school kits and hygiene products to students.
